Introduced in 2012, Dolby Atmos™ has become the preferred audio submission format for major streaming services, including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Apple TV+, and many others. Additionally, many music streaming services have begun offering a tier of immersive music options, including Spotify, Apple, and Amazon Music, among others.

Taking advantage of DSP advances in sound-bar technology, as well as a growing interest in Atmos-equipped movie theaters, the format presents a new frontier in immersive audio for film, television, and music, allowing the viewer to be completely surrounded by an audio environment that truly transports them to the world that the artist is building for them to experience.

Using object-based mixing and an array of speakers above and around the viewer, a carefully calibrated sound-bar, or even headphones, Atmos provides truly immersive, 360º audio reproduction, as well as compensation for any phase issues between audio elements. This improves clarity, depth, and detail of the audio mix, from 7.1.4 playback all the way down to a stereo bounce of the original Atmos output.
